Z is for Zamboni

Derrick's cousin from NJ plays hockey in a travel league and last weekend his team had a tournament in our area, so Jack got to experience his first hockey game.
He was mostly interested in the bright fluorescent lights overhead and the people sitting behind us.  But there will be plenty of time for him to learn about/watch hockey, I'm sure.
Here he is being uninterested in the zamboni and showing you his stellar double chin.

More Tummy Time

"Why do you keep putting me on my tummy, you crazy lady?"

Despite his protests, Jack is getting pretty good at lifting his head and doing his mini pushups.  He is also getting better everyday with the smiles, is starting to grab things (like long hair) and is just beginning to "talk" a little bit, which is far more pleasant than the grunting that he's been proficient in since week four.

Faces

Jack is working on his 6-week milestone of his first "real" smile.  He's getting there!

He has the pouty lip down pat, though.

Pizza

Last Friday Derrick had the day off, so we went to Diaper Lab in Somerville to learn all about cloth diapers.

Derrick has been determined to go out to eat with Jack, so while we were in Davis Square we decided to have an early dinner at Flatbread.  It was a great success in that Jack did not have a meltdown and spent his time sleeping, eating or staring at the lights overhead.

He didn't seem too impressed with the pizza, though.

Topsfield Fair - Second Attempt

Friday was a beautiful day, so Derrick left work a bit early and we took Jack to the fair.

It didn't exactly go as I had envisioned.  We spent a good portion of the time dealing with dirty diapers, feeding and trying to calm him down.  I think maybe he was a bit overstimulated with all the loud noises, smells, etc.

"Oh my god, where did you crazy people bring me?"

A little bit of people watching.

We will try again next year when chances are good he will be walking and that will make it a whole different adventure.

One Month Checkup

Jack being his casual self in his giant diaper, waiting for the pediatrician.

Today was Jack's one month checkup (already!)  Thankfully this time he did not pee all over the table.

He has gained about two pounds since his last checkup for a grand weigh-in of 10 lbs. 5.8 oz (!) and has grown another inch, now measuring 22".

Though this seemed like a lot of weight gain to me, he is measuring around the 60th percentile for both weight and height, so he is pleasantly "average".

Other than that, he is in good health and took his shot like a champ!
