Rainbow

Jack saw his first rainbow today when we were out running an errand after dinner.  

There was much excitement and jumping.

"I can't believe I saw a rainbow.  It is a special day."

Last Day of Pre-K

Today was Jack's last day of Pre-K.  He does not usually attend school on Fridays, but the school traditionally does an end of year show the last two days of school and it was much easier for Derrick and I to go today and see the show, and Jack was happy to participate both mornings.  The show was 101 Dalmatians and Jack's class got to be cats.  They all sang a song and did some choreographed moves with it.  Jack's teachers Julie and Ann Marie knitted hats, tails, and bowties for all the kids and they definitely had the best costumes in the play (except maybe Cruella DeVil). 

After the play we got to see the 8th grade graduation ceremony, and it was very nice to see the connection the kids who had been there since being little had with the administration, teachers, and younger students.  Then we went over to Kane's for a celebratory donut. "Because it is a special day," Jack said.

We played outside upon returning home.  

Apparently Jack has matured so much in his time in Pre-K 

he thinks black socks with sandals is a good look.

Jack is going to be attending "camp" at school over the summer three days per week.  He will get to go on field trips, work on fun projects, and go swimming every week.  Then in September he will be heading to his new classroom across the hall to start Kindergarten!

Touch A Truck

Jack somewhat abandoned the construction thing for a while, but it has come back full force, so he was all for attending this years Touch A Truck at Beverly High School a couple of weeks ago.

He and dad got to check out a police van and Jack got to sit in, honk the horns, and play with the seat hydraulics of various other vehicles.  

Jack was very excited to be able to add a squishy van and squishy hard hat to his squishy bulldozer so now he has a collection.

New Stairs

The highlight of Jack's day off last week was the back stairs being rebuilt.

He kept a close eye on the progress all day.

Last weekend urban s'moring began for the season.

Haircut

Jack got a new haircut.  After trying out Derrick's barber, Jack decided he'd like to stick with Joe, the original barber he visited for his first professional haircut.  

Jack's haircut request was to "have it all up, all over."  I said, "You mean like Sid Vicious?"  But he just looked at me blankly.  We've got some work to do.
