Green Beans

Green beans were on the menu this morning for the first time.

I ended up quickly defrosting some avocado from the freezer instead.

We'll try green beans again at a later date, but for now I guess we stick with the avocado/sweet potato menu.

Here is a short video of the experience if you are so inclined:

Grabbing & Other Updates

Jack is starting to use his hands more and likes to feel different textures, grab things off the table and pull things, as in the video above.  He just figured out how the lion works this week.  It is neat to see him progress, but not that fun when he grabs my hair and won't let go.  Ponytails have become a safety measure around here.

The "laugh while also inhaling" thing as demonstrated above is new this week as well.

Jack also rolled over from back to front for the first time this weekend.  He then didn't know what to do, so went into his Superman pose and started to cry.  He's subsequently come close to repeating the roll over, but gets about 3/4 of the way over and rolls back.  I'm sure he will do it again sometime and maybe we'll even get it on video.

And this morning we noticed two faint whitish lines on his bottom gum.  Finally!  Teeth!  All this drooling has not been for nothing.

Sweet Taters

Jack tried sweet potato last weekend.  He didn't hate it!
But I apparently am too slow with the spoon, so he needed to take matters into his own hands.

So far he is being a stereotypical boy and happily eating whatever we put in front of him.
This may change someday, so I am enjoying it now and am glad I have photographic evidence if there is a future Jack boycott on all vegetables or something.

Our next experiment may be banana, but we will stick with the avocado and sweet potato for now.

Blizzard

We had a bit of snow here yesterday if you didn't hear.
At least it was a good excuse to stuff Jack into his snowsuit again today and take a stroll through the neighborhood.

More Food

Oatmeal.  Liked it so much, he had to grab the spoon himself.

Avocado.  Another big hit.  And less messy than oatmeal, despite how this photo makes it look.

We've been having fun with food.  The rice cereal experiment lasted two days after Jack exhibited, let's say, some digestive issues.  Or lack of digestive issues, maybe.  Anyway, I gave him a week off the solids and the following weekend we tried oatmeal, which was just ground steel cut oats.  This was much more successful!  He ate oatmeal every morning for a week and really seemed to enjoy it.

This past weekend we got crazy and tried some avocado.  Well, he can't seem to get enough of it!  So, that's pretty great.

This weekend's experiment might be sweet potato.
