August 2021

Last August was a mix of camps, home time, and a big trip.  Jack attended approximately seven different camps.  Some were new, some were repeats.  Some were a success, others were not.

Here's Jack at Waldorf camp showing me his
mud technique for building a fort with sticks.

Jack attended Taste Buds Kitchen camp again and brought home tasty treats all week.
I believe these were sweet potato biscuits.

Here he is at Brooksby Farm camp, ready for a day of canoeing.

Yard work is an important skill to learn.

We took some walks to the local pond to feed the ducks.

In the clubhouse with Cleo on a leash.

We went to the sandcastle festival at Revere Beach which was a total bust/disappointment.
But Jack was excited to drink out of a fresh coconut.

Our big trip at the end of August was to Wildwood with Derrick's family.

Lots of time was spent on the boardwalk.

Jack took on the big flume ride this year with great success!

And plenty of rides.

We also took a trip down to Cape May and climbed to the top of the lighthouse.

Also plenty of beach time.

And an interesting storm to round it out!

A good summer overall.  It was nice to get back to some modified normalcy after a very quiet summer 2020.
September to follow soon.  Back to school!

Tech Explanation and July 2021

Where have we been since the summer?  Let me explain...  Back in July the blog host, Blogger, was supposed to do away with the feature where new posts are automatically emailed to anyone who has subscribed.  I know many of you rely on this to know when there are new posts, so I set forth to find a possible replacement service.  As this technical stuff is not in my wheelhouse, the blog got put on the back burner while I tried to figure something out.  Then **poof** here we are six months later.

I did install a new subscription service (I think?).  On the front page of the blog under the archive list there is a blue box where you can enter your email address to get an email when there are new posts.  I have tried to test this out and it seems to work, but I'm not entirely sure.  And the fun part is that the original  service that was supposed to be cancelled in July may actually still work.  So, people could get no alerts and assume this blog is dead, or maybe you'll get two different alerts.  Or maybe you just randomly check the blog anyway and hope there is actual new content.

So, my plan was to do an omnibus post and catch up from July to the holidays, then start posting more regularly in 2022 and hopefully get into a routine.  But after looking at the photos I have, I think I will break it up into monthly posts until I catch up.

When we left off, school had ended and summer was in full swing.

Over July 4, we took our annual trip to Wells, Maine
which of course included some trips to the Maine Diner.

It was cool and rainy for most of the time,
but we made the best of it.

Knot practice

We did make it to the beach once, at least.

We also took a trip down to Ogunquit and walked Marginal Way.

Closer to home, we enjoyed some walks in Lynn Woods.

Jack and I attended some "Sew a Stuffy" classes at the library.

(Subsequent lion stuffy not shown.)

We also squeezed in some blueberry picking.

Overall, a more active summer than last year!  August summary to follow.
