Progress Update

Jack will now sit in his high chair and pick up his bottle on his own and feed himself.
Sometimes he needs a little help, but he's getting pretty good at it.
(Bedhead is a bonus.)

Jack is also now getting good at rolling both from back to tummy and tummy to back.
He's been using this as a mode of transport.
(In this photo he started off on the blanket.)

The cat is not happy about this development.

Six-Month Checkup

The standard "waiting for the Dr. in only a diaper" photo.

The latest official statistics are in!  At his checkup on Friday, Jack weighed in at 19lbs. 15oz. and measured 28.5" long.  So, that's a little over three pounds in weight gain and two inches more in length from his last checkup two months ago.  The Dr. said he is pretty much the size of a nine month old.  I don't know if this means he is going to be a big dude when he grows up or if things will even out soon.

He got three (!) shots and a drink and handled it okay aside from some extra sleepiness.  He should be all set with shots until 12 months I think, which is good.

Overall, he is doing well!

Squash

Butternut squash was a hit.
Here's hoping I can find something not orange to try next.

Peas

I thought Jack would like peas.
These were actually worse than the green beans.
Oh well, on to the next thing I guess.
(Not sure what that will be yet.)

Carrots!

First time eating carrots this morning.  Messy, but I think the face says it all.

Breaking News!

Jack rolled over from his back to his tummy and then was happy about it instead of crying.
Big progress!

Six Month Roundup

On Jack's six month birthday, Derrick took him to his first swim class.  Apparently he didn't really know what was going on and was busy looking around at everything instead of focusing on playing in the pool, but he also didn't hate it and start crying.  Success?  We may try again in a couple of weeks and see if there is any improvement/increased interest.

Doesn't this look like a terrible 70s soft focus shot?  Especially with the wicker furniture.
Derrick is assuming this effect is due to the pool area being so humid.
I just wanted you to see Jack's cute swim trunks.

As a treat on Jack's 6-month birthday, we gave him some mashed banana for breakfast.
Here he is saying, "More banana!!!"  He enjoyed it so much he almost lost his hat.

And here is a photo Derrick took of Jack looking much happier about turning 6-months old.

Happy Half Birthday!

"You mean to tell me I am six months old, already?  I don't feel a day over five months, honestly."
