3.5

This week was Jack's half birthday so we continued the tradition of a bit of fanfare and a silly hat.

We also got Jack a Lego trash truck which he has been enjoying very much.

The descent into Lego happened quickly and unexpectedly.  Jack received a Lego fire truck at Christmas and on a recent shopping trip saw a small wrecking ball and dump truck set which we brought home.  Soon after I bought a small box of pieces just to add to the general collection (Derrick nor I had Lego when we were little, so we may be having fun playing too).
Jack has been enjoying assembling, disassembling, and assembling again the same pieces, and also making his own creations.  I don't know what the developmental norm is regarding Lego ability in 3.5 year olds, but I've been pretty impressed with what Jack has been doing.

Children's Museum

I neglected to post about our trip back in January to the Children's Museum.  It was an interesting experience.  Jack seemed to enjoy some aspects, but those aspects (like playing with construction vehicles) are things he can (and does) do most anywhere.  Some of it was a bit overwhelming for him.
Jack's favorite part of the trip seemed to be checking out the cranes, construction equipment, and big buildings while we drove around looking for a parking spot.  Runner up favorite would probably be watching the seagulls in the water next to the museum.
Thanks for the reminder to keep it simple, Jack.

Go to a museum and play with construction vehicles, sure.

But the skid steer was pretty cool.

Building a house with giant foam blocks.

Learning about pulleys with help from dad.

Dad and Jack in front of the milk bottle.

Checking out some history (and seagulls) by the museum.
