A few weeks ago we went up to Lincoln, NH to see the ice castles. I made the plans before fully realizing all the other stuff there is to do in the area is not open during ski season. But we managed to keep busy.
First of all, Jack was excited to find a vintage set of Lego at the condo.
Ice castles in daytime...
...and at night. We went around 4:00 so we could see both versions.
Small ice slide.
There was a larger (faster) one that Derrick and Jack went on together.
There were also tunnels to climb through. Here is Derrick's bum.
And a picture Derrick took of Jack climbing through the tunnel in front of him.
This picture makes my breath go shallow every time.
There were rooms of different colors to go in and explore.
And this ceiling was particularly neat.
Waiting for pizza after ice castles.
The next day we went to Cannon Mountain and rode the tram to the top.
It was a beautiful day to go to the top of a mountain.
Jack was much more relaxed on the way down
when he finally realized we weren't going to make him ski.
(See previous post.)
We also visited the New England Ski Museum.
Perhaps we will go back up to this area in the summer when there are a lot of different things to do. Though if Jack had his way on this trip I think he would have been happy to stay in the condo and play with Lego, go up and down the ladder of the bunk bed 100 times, and marvel at having a TV in "his room."
