May has been busy so far.
We attended the biannual "play space spruce up" at Jack's school, where
he spread mulch, added sand to the sand pit and served as unofficial foreman
over the installation of a friendship bench.
He also got to get a caricature done, which was fun.
Jack's latest school project is keeping a moon journal.
This requires him to go out and look for the moon Monday-Thursday
and record the conditions and his observations.
He also informed me today he knows the eight phases of the moon and proceeded to
recite them to me, in order. So, I guess he's learning something.
This also prompted Derrick to dust this little guy off and bring it out from
the basement, which Jack has enjoyed.
It was Arts Week at school last week and there were a variety of performances and
artwork displayed. Jack's class did a skit that they had been practicing for many weeks.
It was a parody involving various fairy tale characters and Jack was one of the three pigs.
He told us when first getting the script that he chose a character with a lot of lines on
purpose and when it came to the performance, he did a great job enunciating, seemed to have no anxiety about being on stage, and remembered his lines very well.
We were a bit surprised, and very proud.
