Easter

On Easter weekend we did some Easter activities.

Jack enjoyed some seasonal allergies.

Dyed some eggs.

Jack's Easter morning involved finding plastic eggs with clues in them

and having to figure out the clues to find things such as small Lego sets,

and a large bike.

March

Some stuff happened in March.  Here are some samples.

Serious NERF battles

For science and engineering week there were lots of activities at school,

including getting to hold this sea creature.

The science fair also happened.  

Here is Jack holding his "Yummy Gummy Bear Experiment" journal.  

Basically, they put a gummy bear in salt water and one in plain water and 

had to measure and record what happened in their journals.

Another school project was the creation of the leprechaun trap.

Jack's idea was to put duct tape on the floor as a trap for any leprechaun's trying to 

get the gold coins.  He didn't catch anyone, but the "leprechaun" left some 

chocolate coins in exchange, so it all worked out.

Derrick took Jack to Bradford to try out snowboarding for the first time.

Unlike skiing, the experience was a success and Jack seemed to enjoy himself.

We'll see if he still feels the same when next winter rolls around.

We celebrated Jack's half birthday last weekend.   

Of course this means a silly "hat,"

and some presents.  

(Jack has been watching a lot of Pink Panther lately.)

Also some tiny bundt cake samples which got a genuine smile.

 In the afternoon, Jack's friend came over to play.

They were very proud of their creation.

Ireland

A few weeks ago it was International Week at school.  Jack's class studied Ireland.

Here is Jack inside Dublin Castle,

and putting a kiss on the Blarney Stone.

This was Jack's "research project" which he wrote 

and was excited about getting to make a map key.

Jack also made this "Welcome to Ireland" sign,

so here he is showing off the sign and his fake smile.

January Round Up

Though this winter has been pretty reasonable in terms of snow, we have had some pretty cold days, so we have been laying low, inside, where it is warm.  

What are some fun things to do while hibernating?

Invite a friend over for a lightsaber battle!

Science experiments!

Make some sparkly slime!

And venture outside just long enough to make a tiny snowman.

Post-Christmas/NYE

We kept things pretty low-key after Christmas and enjoyed some quiet times at home.  On one warm-ish afternoon we headed over to Ipswich River Wildlife Sanctuary and explored the trails.  

Jack made a gnome home,

 fed some chickadees out of his hand,

and cracked some ice on the pond.

On New Year's Eve, we made an early reservation at Fugakyu and then attended the block party at Marketstreet Lynnfield where they had a DJ and did a "countdown" at 7:00pm, which is just our speed. 

Jack's first time at a Japanese restaurant.  He loved it.

 At the countdown, just having witnessed the "largest confetti burst in the area."

Now we are almost settled back into the work and school routine and thinking about plans for 2019.

Christmas

Christmas is done and all of the decorations are put away.  Jack had almost two weeks off from school and had a lot of family time and watched a lot of movies.

We went to an event at the library hosted by the Saugus Garden Club.

Jack learned all about poinsettias and got to make his own flower arrangement.
