Potato Heads

Jack has been into playing with Mr. Potato Head lately,
which has made for some interesting specimens.

Chalk

Jack has been having fun lately standing on his kitchen cart and using the chalkboard.  (Mostly using the eraser on the chalkboard, the counter, his clothes…)

Unfortunately for him, kitchen demolition starts soon, so this chalkboard will be long gone!

Grumpy Pewter

Pewter doesn't care for reading.

Jack tries to make her feel included.  Aww…

18 Month Checkup

Jack had his 18-month checkup last week.  He did well and was even pleasant despite getting poked and prodded and a shot at the end.  Jack is now 34.5" tall and weighs just about 29 pounds.

Among the usual questions, the doctor did ask me how much Jack is talking and if he's trying to repeat what we say.  When I said no to the repeating part and that he only says a couple of words, which I had been wondering about anyway, she suggested a hearing test since Jack had two ear infections recently in pretty close succession.

So, off we went later that week to Children's to get a hearing test.  Jack did great tolerating stuff being put in his ears and having to wear headphones and all that.  Long story short, Jack's hearing is fine, but he does still have a lot of fluid in his left ear, so they want to keep an eye on it since this is kind of a critical period for him to be hearing clearly.

Then in typical Jack fashion, last weekend he suddenly started trying to repeat things we were saying and since then has added "blue" and "shell" to his very small repertoire…

18 Months

Jack turned 18 months old last weekend.  I made a ridiculous hat on the fly during breakfast.  As you can imagine, it was near impossible to get Jack to keep the "hat" on his head, never mind get a photo of it.  But Derrick got one decent photo, which is all we need.

More posts to come soon, including the ever important latest medical checkup stats.
