Birthday #4

Jack had a birthday recently.  This is the first year he could grasp the concept and talked about turning four consistently for at least a month prior to the big day.  We even made a calendar the week of his birthday and he crossed off the days each night to count down to his birthday and party.

On his actual birthday we went to Kanes to get a donut.

"How old are you today?"

After donuts, we gave him a few presents.  And the rest of the day was dedicated to Lego.

We had a small family gathering the next day.  A panda party.  Panda cake.

Panda cupcakes.

Panda piñata stuffed with Lego.

Jack seems to be enjoying four so far.  He has already told us that when he turns 100 he would like a pumpkin-themed party.

  3. Happy birthday, Jack! I thought that the panda cupcakes were awesome, but then I saw the pinata stuffed with lego--that's brilliant! I've been trying to think of something non-junky and non-edible to put in a pinata but lego never even crossed my mind! Looks like a great party. Can't wait for the 100 year pumpkin party!

    1. Lego has been my solution so far to replace candy (Easter, pinata). Halloween might be tough, though!

  4. Our YMCA "buys back" Halloween candy (supposedly for the "troops," who knows for sure but it sounds nice), so the boys pick out 20-25 pieces of candy they want to keep and then donate the rest. We are still working on last year's candy so I think their candy intake isn't too bad... :) Did you just buy random lego pieces for the piñata? Looks like a cool school for Jack! Is it a charter?

    1. I wonder if our Y does that? Might be worth looking into, not matter who it goes to. I came across a neat site called brickowl.com where you can buy all sorts of single pieces, so I've done that twice now. The new school isn't a charter. I call it an independent hippie school. :)
