Jack and I went blueberry picking a couple of Saturdays ago. It was a nice cloudy day with a threat of rain so there were only a few other people at the farm. Jack turned out to be good at picking ripe blueberries, so the bucket filled up quickly, minus a few free samples.
Derrick and Jack did a great job of eating the blueberries so, "What are we going to do with all these blueberries?" quickly became, "Wait, there aren't any blueberries left?"
About two weeks after Wells, we went back up to Maine for the annual family weekend. I think this was the first year that Jack didn't have a meltdown at some point on the way which is a nice milestone.
Around Fourth of July we took five days and went to Wells, Maine for a vacation.
Jack wasn't feeling well the day before we left, but we thought we would go anyway and take it easy on day one. See sample photo for how most of day one was spent.
Day two we had a great morning/afternoon at the beach. When we got back, Jack started complaining of stomach pain again and went to bed early.
Day three, I will spare the details but note the bucket and towel.
Jack was still complaining of stomach pains.
Due to Jack's consistent (four day) complaining of serious stomach pains, we thought something else might be going on, so we took him to the local urgent care center, who then referred us to Maine Med, so off to Portland we went. A vacation adventure!
Very long story short, it seems Jack had a serious virus that just wouldn't quit. We'd never seen him this sick before, so took some perhaps excessive precautions.
In typical Jack fashion, he started showing signs of feeling better at the hospital and ate a popsicle, and multiple packages of graham crackers and saltines. Jack was also happy to get to watch some of the Spongebob Movie at the hospital and later stated this being one of the highlights of the whole trip. Sigh...
Day four, we met up with Grampy and Gail who were camping not too far away.
Jack enjoyed trying to fish, a canoe ride, winning two rounds (and all the chocolate) of Left, Right, Center, and playing with the excavator at the playground.
Day five we went out for breakfast to Congdon's doughnuts. I cannot recommend their doughnuts, but the rest of breakfast was good. Jack built a jelly tower to pass the time.
Jack enjoyed his chocolate chip pancakes.
After breakfast we went to a local arcade where Jack enjoyed playing a 2017 version of Space Invaders. A nice couple donated a bunch of their tickets to us at the prize counter, so Jack was able to get a bunch of silly prizes.
Let the record show this prize was Dad's idea.
After the arcade, we headed home as Mom and Dad had had enough of "vacation."
